Roof Tray — South 10°

Ballast racking for a flat roof: each module on two bent steel trays, 10 degrees facing south, the concrete blocks in the trays. Laser cut and bent from G90 galvanized sheet, nothing welded, bolted together on the roof.

The roof tray. Each module sits landscape on two 16 ga trays, a quarter of its length in from each end, on a short front post and a taller rear post, 12 ga, bent to the 10 degree seat. One clamp on each post holds the module frame. The trays run north to south one row long, and a short saddle joins each to the next row's, so the array ties together front to back. A deflector runs along the back of every row on the rear posts, tying the trays east to west and keeping the wind from getting under the modules. Solid 4 x 8 x 16 in concrete blocks lie flat in the trays; how many go in each comes from the wind design for your roof, corners and edges taking more. Rows are spaced clear of the December noon shadow. Every part is laser cut and bent from G90 pre-galvanized sheet and bolts together with stainless flange bolts; EPDM pads under the trays keep the steel off the membrane. Priced by the kilowatt.
