These terms apply to this website and everything reachable from it: the material price list and store, the online quoting and file-upload tools, the customer and student portals, the design tools, and the welding school and welder test centre. They apply whether or not you have an account. Using the site or placing an order means you accept them.
Some areas are restricted to account holders. Access to a portal, an admin area or an internal tool is limited to the people we have given credentials to.
Pricing errors. Prices and stock counts on this site are generated automatically and can be wrong. If a price is obviously in error we may correct it, or decline or cancel the affected order, at any time before we accept it and before the goods ship. If you have already paid and we cancel on this basis, we refund you in full. We will not hold you to a corrected price without telling you first.
Listings, published prices and automated quotes are an invitation to do business, not an offer. Your order is an offer to buy. A contract forms only when we accept it in writing, or when we ship or release the goods, whichever happens first. Until then we may decline the order or any part of it, including where stock has run out, a price was wrong, or the work is outside what we do.
Card payments are processed by Square. We do not see or store your full card number. Store orders are paid at checkout. Account customers we have approved for terms are invoiced Net 30 from the invoice date. Overdue accounts may be put on hold until cleared.
Delivery windows are targets, not guarantees. Same-day, 24 hour and 48 hour windows run from our acceptance of the order and depend on stock, shop load, weather and the carrier. We will tell you if a window is going to be missed. A missed window is not a breach of these terms and does not by itself entitle you to a refund or to cancel, though we will always look at it with you.
Risk of loss passes to you when the goods are picked up, or when they are delivered to the address you gave us. Someone must be there to receive a delivery and to unload anything that needs equipment. A failed delivery may be re-charged.
All sales are final, except where the goods are defective, are not what you ordered, or are short against the order. Steel that has been cut, drilled, formed, welded, coated or otherwise worked cannot be returned in any case.
Check your order on receipt. Tell us within 48 hours of pickup or delivery if anything is wrong or short. Where we are at fault we will repair, replace or refund, at our option. Section 15 sets out how this sits with your rights as a consumer.
We build to the drawings, files, dimensions and specifications you give us. You are responsible for their accuracy and for whether the finished item is fit for what you intend to do with it, unless you have separately engaged us to do the design.
When you upload a DXF, a model, a spreadsheet or a photograph of a list, you confirm you have the right to give it to us and to have it made. You keep ownership of your files. You give us permission to use them to quote, program, fabricate and deliver your order, and to keep a copy for our records and for warranty and traceability purposes. We do not sell your files or use them to build for anyone else.
Steady Steel Inc is certified by the Canadian Welding Bureau to CSA W47.1 Division 2. Division 2 means our welding is done under qualified procedures and by qualified welders under CWB supervision. It does not mean we carry in-house weldment design engineering.
Where a weld or an assembly is engineered — lifting attachments, structural connections designed rather than detailed, anything a code requires a professional engineer to seal — the engineering is yours to supply, or a separate scope you engage us to arrange. We will say so when we see it. Current Letters of Validation and their expiry dates are published on this site and are the authoritative statement of what we hold.
The DXF quoter, the material-list parser, the instant store prices and the design tools produce estimates, generated from the file as our software read it. They are not a binding quote and they are not an engineering review. A file we cannot read confidently is priced by a person instead. Anything an automated tool returns is subject to our review before we accept the order under section 4.
Quotes through our API and AI assistants. Our API and our MCP server let AI assistants and other software price plate and catalog products for you. A quote from them that says its price is firm holds that price for 7 days, to the date on the quote. You order on this site, where the order is priced again at checkout. If checkout charges more than a firm quote that has not run out, tell us and we refund the difference. Section 3's clause on pricing errors and section 4 still apply.
Published test rates are current and are before HST. Booking and paying for a test buys you a test attempt and the administration around it. It does not buy a pass. Qualification tickets are issued by the Canadian Welding Bureau against its own criteria, not by us, and we cannot guarantee an outcome. Test day availability is stated on the test centre page and may be suspended.
Online course access is licensed to you personally and is not transferable. Fees for course content are non-refundable once the paid content has been opened.
Keep your login credentials to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Do not attempt to access data that is not yours, scrape or overload the site, upload malicious files, or use the quoting tools to gather our pricing for a competitor. We may suspend an account or refuse service for any of these.
How we handle your information is set out in our Privacy Policy. We use third-party services to run this business, including Square for payments, QuickBooks Online for accounting, Amazon Web Services for file storage, and carriers for shipping. Their own terms apply to their part of the work.
We warrant that the work conforms to your order and drawings, and that welding meets the applicable acceptance criteria of CSA W59, as at delivery or pickup. Raise defects on receipt under section 7.
Beyond that we give no time-bounded warranty. Mill material carries whatever warranty the mill gives it and no more. We are not responsible for corrosion, wear, overload, misuse, modification or field alteration after the goods leave us, or for a design or dimension you supplied.
If you are buying as a consumer rather than for a business, Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002 gives you rights that cannot be signed away. Nothing in these terms — including sections 6, 7, 14 and 16 — removes or limits any right you have under that Act or any other law that applies to you and cannot be waived. Where a term of this agreement conflicts with such a right, that right wins and the rest of these terms still stand.
Subject to section 15, our total liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid us for that order. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, including lost profit, lost production, delay costs, crane or equipment standby, or the cost of other trades.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply in it. The courts of Ontario have jurisdiction, subject to any right you have as a consumer to bring a claim where you live.
We may change these terms. The version in force for your order is the one published when we accepted it. The date at the top of this page tells you when it last changed.
