Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our 5-week welding program.
About the Program
No. Our program starts from the fundamentals. Whether you've never held a welding torch or you have some hobby experience, we'll meet you where you are and build your skills systematically over 5 weeks.
Classes run Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The full program is 5 weeks (10 sessions, 30 hours of shop time). There are also online pre-class modules that take about 20-30 minutes to complete before each session.
We cap each cohort at 8 students. This ensures everyone gets their own welding booth, dedicated equipment, and meaningful one-on-one time with the instructor.
You'll learn MIG welding (GMAW) and Stick welding (SMAW). MIG is the most in-demand process in fabrication shops. Stick welding is essential for structural and field work. Together, they cover the majority of entry-level welding positions.
All Lincoln Electric equipment — the industry standard. Lincoln Power MIG welders for GMAW and Lincoln Invertec for SMAW. We also have a CNC plasma table, overhead crane, and full fabrication layout tools.
About CWB Certification
The Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) administers welder performance qualification tests under CSA W47.1. A CWB certification proves to employers that you can produce welds that meet structural quality standards. It's the most recognized welding credential in Canada.
Yes. Your tuition includes your first CWB performance qualification test plus one free retest (or a second successful certification in a different position). Additional retests beyond that are $150 each.
Most students test for GMAW (MIG) in the flat and/or horizontal positions. Depending on your progress, you may also qualify to test for SMAW (Stick). Your instructor will recommend the best certifications based on your skill development.
