Steady Steel Inc is a CWB-certified fabrication shop located in Newmarket, Ontario, serving York Region and the Greater Toronto Area. We hold certifications under CSA W47.1 and CSA W47.2 Division 2, covering mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum welding and fabrication.

Questions about this work

Is the Newmarket shop CWB certified?

Yes. The certification in force is CSA W47.1 Div 2 (valid to June 2027) and CSA W47.2 Div 2 (valid to April 2027), and it is the company that is certified rather than an individual welder — the shop holds the procedures, the qualified welders and the audits behind them.

Those dates are read from the register the shop maintains, so this page goes quiet on its own if a letter lapses rather than carrying a claim past its expiry.

Do I need finished drawings before the Newmarket shop can start?

No. A sketch on paper, a photograph with dimensions, a part to copy or a full stamped drawing set all start a job. Detailing and modelling happen here: parts are modelled in SolidWorks and drawn for the shop floor with weld maps and piece marks.

What is not done here is sealed engineering. Where a code requires a professional engineer to seal a design, that engineering is yours to supply or a separate scope you engage us to arrange, and we say so when we see it.

How much of a fabrication job happens in the same building?

Cutting, forming and welding are all at 42 Wilstead Dr. The CNC fiber laser takes sheet and thinner plate on a 5 x 10 bed, the CNC plasma takes the heavier plate, the automatic bandsaw cuts structural and bar to length, and bending and rolling are here too.

A job needing some of each does not move between shops, and the crew that welded it is the crew that installs it.

What kinds of steel fabrication come through the shop?

Lintels, stairs, railings, frames, dunnage, embeds and anchors, plus shop-welded assemblies and non-pressure attachments bolted to customer equipment. Mild steel, stainless and aluminum, one-off or repeat.

Small work runs the same way a structural package does. One bracket is a job.

How soon can fabrication start in Newmarket?

Material sets the floor. What is on the rack goes out the same day. Anything not on the floor is a 2 day lead time, because the service centres we buy from deliver next day into Newmarket. Fabrication time sits on top of that and depends on the job.
